1.How did you meet?
We were both tragically widowed in 2017, and met in a Facebook group for younger widows and widowers. It is not a dating site, but we met and realized we had a lot in common.
2.Where did you hold the wedding ceremony?
A country club in Northern Virginia. The ceremony was outdoors and the reception was indoors.
3.How was your wedding look?
I was a second-time bride so my goal was a look of simple elegance. I chose JJ‘s House because I could make the decision on my dress without other influences such as bridal consultants who I felt were more for first-time younger brides. My hairstyle was an up-do. My make-up was done by my daughter who is an artist, and my accessories were from JJ’s House, which included a matching necklace and earrings.
4.What was your favorite moment of the wedding day?
Seeing family and friends all in one place, and of course saying, “I do!”
5.Did Covid-19 affect your wedding plan?
The wedding industry was greatly affected by COVID, and we started planning as restrictions were starting to relax. We were fortunate since we were not planning a large wedding, and had what was called a micro-wedding (up to 50 people). This option grew out of necessity during COVID, and was beneficial to us since we did not need the options for a larger wedding.
6.What’s your advice for wedding plans for other couples?
Enjoy every minute and don’t stress over perfection. The wedding is really more for your family and friends to celebrate the nuptials, so remember to honor your family and friends during your wedding. Splurge on the menu if you can. My bouquet and decorative flowers were artificial. Nobody noticed and I received so many compliments on the flowers. The flowers were a fraction of what a florist would have charged.
